Level 2 Handgun Safety

This class is designed for individuals who have been through the Level 1 handgun course (or equivalent).

Prerequisite: Successful completion of a basic handgun course from BAFT or equivalent from a BAFT recognized school. Current LE/MIL exempt.

Subjects covered include:

  • Malfunction drills

  • Multiple target engagement at speed

  • One handed shooting, both strong and weak hand

  •  reloading drills

  • Review of basics (shooting stance, grip and trigger manipulation, proper loading and unloading, presenting the handgun from the holster)

  • Varied distance shooting

  • Varied distance shooting from 1- 10 yards 

Goals

Our classes are designed to teach individuals who have been through a basic pistol curse and want to transition to another level of training. We will build on the skills learned in the Level 1 class (or equivalent) and introduce the student to reloading and malfunction clearing drills, and transitioning between multiple targets while maintaining proper shooting techniques and practicing handgun safety.

Equipment Needed

  • 200 rounds per weapon

  • Cleaned and Oiled Handgun

  • Ear Protection (preferable electronic)

  • Eye Protection

  • Leather gun belt (or other appropriate material)

  • Leather or kydex (strong –side) belt or inside the waistband Holster Note: the holster MUST cover the trigger and trigger guard.

  • Magazine pouch

  • Three or more magazines
